  Today's topic of the week is going to be about Rebecca Soni. Rebecca Soni is an Olympic swimmer. Her best stroke is breaststroke. She currently has the world record at the 200 breaststroke, and she earned that at the 2012 Olympic games. I am going to give you a kid-friendly biography of her.

                           
                         Family and Age

Rebecca was born in Freehold, 1987 on March 18 and is currently 25. She had one sister named Rita Soni and her two parents named Kinga and Peter Soni. Her parents immigrated from Cluj-Napoca, Roania. Besides English they also speak Hungarian. Rita is also a swimmer but, originally an gymnast. Soni is a graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High school. she attended collage in 2006 to, University of southern California and graduated in 2009.

                                              
                          Early life

Rebecca Soni is a traditional Hungarian. As a kid, she only had one t.v. Her farther had a lock on the plug and if you didn't have the key it wouldn't turn on. Around 2000-2004 Rebecca wanted to watch the swimming Olympics but, her dad wasn't home and her mom didn't know where the plug was. She ran from door to door saying,"Can we watch the Olympics on your T.V." She hardly remembers watching anything. Rebecca's family always had homed-cooked meals they never ate out. Rebecca never had a American-childhood she was very religious.

                           Swimming

She started swimming at the age of ten. Rebecca Soni is amazing at the stroke breaststroke. She has the world record in the 200-meter breaststroke  ( short course and long course) and the 100 meter breaststroke ( short course) ( which was 2:20:00. for the 200-meter breaststroke.)  In the Olympics 2008, Beijing her parents watched her swim at home. She is a six-time Olympic medalist. She has one 22 medals in her major competition. 14 gold, 7 silver, and one bronze. She currently has five world records. She won the swimming worlds, world swimmer of the year 2010 and 2011. Also, she won the American swimmer of the year award in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Allison Schmitt

Today's topic of the week is going to be about Allison Schmitt. You will find simple facts about her life and background.
                
                                                    Birthday, Age, and Family

Allison was born on June 7, 1990 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She grew up in Canton, Michigan along with four other people. Her parents names are Ralph and Gail Schmitt and her full name is Allison Rodgers Schmitt. She is currently 22.

                                                                    Swimming

Allison started swimming at the age of nine. She Allison trained with Olympic medalist Michael Phelps and has the same coach Bob Bowman. In 2007 she made Junior Nationals and showcased her talent in Orlando Florida. She made her first Olympics in 2008, Beijing. There she won her first Olympic medal a bronze in the 4-by-200 freestyle relay. At the 2012 Olympics she won three gold medals and set a new world record for the 200 freestyle.

Nathan Adrian

Nathan's given name from birth is Nathan ghar-jun Adrian. He was born on December, 7th 1988 in Bremerton Washington, today he is 23. His occupation is clearly an Olympic swimmer.

                                                     Family/Early life

Nathan has one brother and one sister and he followed in their footsteps Swimming! Both of them went to swim in collage. (Arizona State and the University of Washington) Nathan swam in high school, he went to the University of California at Berkeley. He broke ten records there.

                                                  Swimming 

Nathan started swimming at a very young age. His first Olympics was in 2008, Beijing. There he won a gold medal and set a new world record. In 2009 he won the golden goggles of the year in Rome at the world championships. In addition to that year, he was the NCAA champion in the 50-and 100- freestyle. In 2010 he was named NCAA 100-meter freestyle and in the world championships of 2011 he won a gold and a bronze in two relays. Nathan qualified in the 2012 Olympic games. There he swam and won the 100-meter freestyle.

Today's topic of the week is going to be about Dana Vollmer.

                                                           Simple Facts
Today's topic of the week is going to be about Dana Vollmer! Although she is not as popular as Micheal Phelps, Missy Franklin, or Ryan Lochte she is amazing in butterfly. Here are some cool facts I think you should know about her. At the age 12 she was the youngest person to enter the Olympic trials. At the age 14 she was diagnosed with a heart condition but continued  to swim any way. She is a very dedicated swimmer. She won a gold medal at the Athens Olympics in 2004.In London she won 2 gold medals and broke a world record in the 100-meter butterfly.

                                                   Early Life and Career

Her given name from birth is Dana Whitney Vollmer and was born in New York, Syracuse November 13th, 1987 and was raised where her parents moved when she was a young girl in Granbury Texas. Swimming is in her blood. Her mother was a swim coach and had world records in England. Her older brother named Nick, swam as well and became a teacher and a swim coach.

                                       Swimming Career
Dana sadly didn't qualify For Beijing in 2008 and she was devastated. In addition she was recovering from shoulder and back injures. Since she was deeply disappointed and no longer interested in racing her US coach connected with a coach in Australia and arranged for her to go to Fiji to swim with dolphins and to teach kids how to swim. Later on she relized her love for swim and began training again.

That is my wonderful story about 3-time Olympic gold medalist Dana Vollmer!

Ryan Lochte

Today's topic of the week is going to be about Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte! His given name is Ryan Steven Lochte. He was born in Canandaigua, New York on August 3, 1984. In present days he is 28. His sign is a leo. He started swimming at the age of 5 and he had a great feel of the water by the age 5 or 6. Soon after, his family moved to Florida so his dad could coach swimming. In his junior high school Lochte wanted to become a professional swimmer. Lochte was rewarded "Swimmer of the year" twice and is NCAA champion. His first Olympics was in 2004 Athens, Greece. In his total years (so far) he has won 11 Olympic medals 5 gold.

                                              Swimming
In 2005 World Aquatics Championships Lochte won bronze in the 200-meter backstroke and the 200-individual medlay and gold in the 4-by-200-meter relay. Next year in the short course world championships he won 6 medals 3 gold and set world records in 3 events. 20- individual medlay and 100-backstroke and 200-backstroke. Capping the year he was rewarded "Male swimmer of the Year". In London Lochte won 2 gold medals. Missy Franklin

Today's topic of the week is going to be about Missy Franklin! Here are a couple basic facts you should know about her. She swims in Colorado.

                               Early Life


Her full name given from birth is, Melissa Jeanette Franklin. She was born May 10th,1995 in Pasadena, California, but was raised in Centennial, Colorado. Missy learned to swim at the age of 5. Her mother was afraid of the water when she was a kid.

                                                           Swimming

 In 2009/2010 at the age of 14, she was considered,"Breakout performer of the Year" at the USA swimming gala golden goggles. In 2011 she competed in her first long course world championship meet. There she won five medals, three of them gold and broke her first world record. Missy's first Olympics were in London 2012. In London Missy had won 4 gold medals, in the 100 meter backstroke, 200 meter backstroke, and two relay medals in the 4-by-200-meter relay and 4-by-100 relay. Missy's farther nicknamed her "Missy the Missile" Hopefully you guys enjoyed my interesting facts about Missy Franklin.

Michael Phelps

Today's topic of the week is about Michael Phelps. Over his career he has won 22 medals. 18 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze in the Olympics. He broke the the world record for having the most medals ever.


                        Early Life

Michael's real name is Michael Fred Phelps. He has two sisters and is the youngest. Their names are, Hilary and Whitney. He was born on  June 30th, 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1999 Michael made his first nationals B team. When Phelps was 15 he made his first Olympic team. He was the youngest boy to enter in 68 years. His supporting coach was Bob Bowman.
   
                      Swimming

Michael has won 22 medals. 18 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. He became the first athlete to win eight gold medals in a single Olympics. In 2004 Michael signed a contract trying to beat Mark Spitz's record. Unfortunately, he got 6 gold medals not 7. In 2008, Beijing he had broke the record with 8 gold medals.

                                                 Inspiration


I decided to write about Michael Phelps because he is the greatest swimmer of all time. He inspires many people to work as hard as they can to their best ability. For the last four years Phelps has been in the water for almost every single day, training for the Olympics. Michael Phelps will continue to inspire kids to become as great as him!
